About this tour

We had the privilege of experiencing an unforgettable day on the water with Warrior Poet Sportfishing in San Francisco. Departing from the historic Hyde Street Pier, we opted for a half-day trip, though you can also choose from morning, afternoon, or even full-day adventures. Captain David King, with over 25 years of experience fishing these waters, knows the best spots to catch a variety of fish.

Fishing in San Francisco is fantastic, offering opportunities to catch Rockfish, Sturgeon, Striped Bass, Salmon, Shark, Dungeness Crab, Lingcod, Halibut, Skate, Ray, and many more species. Depending on the season, you can target different fish using various techniques such as light or heavy tackle, bottom fishing, jigging, trolling, or drift fishing.

Captain David operates a well-equipped 34’ Pelican Bay Boatworks commercial boat, originally built in 1988 and powered by new twin 225 HP Volvo D4 engines, with a maximum speed of 20 knots. This boat is perfect for fishing trips inside and outside the Golden Gate Bridge, featuring GPS, a fishfinder, an ice box, a live well, all necessary safety gear, and even a toilet, which is a huge plus if you’re bringing the whole family.

Warrior Poet Sportfishing provides full tackle with Avet reels and custom rods from Mac’s Rods. They also supply lures, live bait, snacks, and drinks on all trips. Upon returning to the marina, your fish will be cleaned and filleted for free, so be sure to bring a cooler to transport your catch home or to a nearby restaurant to have it cooked for you.

Don’t forget to purchase a fishing license before your trip, which you can buy on the official California Department of Fish and Wildlife website. And if you plan to keep White Sturgeon, you’ll need a Sturgeon Report Card!

For a fun day on the water, catching delicious fish, and enjoying epic views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco, Warrior Poet is an excellent choice for you and your family.
